Do you see yourself here?

You’ve been told
your child needs to
gain or lose weight.

You’re unsure what’s
appropriate—or healthy.

You’re worried
nutrition is affecting
growth, energy, or health.

You want to make sure your
child is getting what they need.

Your child’s growth
chart has changed
unexpectedly.

Percentiles can be confusing
and hard to interpret.

You want guidance
without blame,
pressure, or guilt.

You want support that focuses
on health, not numbers.

Growth charts provide information, but they don’t tell the whole story.Together we’ll look at nutrition, development, genetics,
activity, medical history, and your family’s goals.

From our work together, parents can typically expect

If your child isn’t gaining
weight or growing as expected

  • A clear, doable plan for meals and snacks that supports weight gain when needed without turning every bite into a battle
  • Less pressure at the table (and fewer power struggles), while still moving toward growth goals
  • Simple “boosters” to increase calories and nutrients without needing your child to eat a bigger volume
  • More confidence and less panic on low-intake days
  • Coordination of care with other providers such as your child’s pediatrician, endocrinologist or gastroenterologist when needed so nothing important is missed
  • Support in gradually reducing or transitioning off tube feedings or oral supplemental nutrition, when appropriate

If accelerated weight gain
is a concern

  • A structured, non-diet approach that supports health without shame, restriction, or “food policing”
  • More balanced meals and snacks that keep kids satisfied
  • Improved appetite regulation through consistent timing and satisfying, predictable options
  • Less stress around “treats” and more flexibility without feeling out of control or deprived
  • Positive language around food and body image at home to protect your child’s relationship with food and self
  • More joyful movement

A Note About Weight Management Referrals

Your child’s medical provider might have referred you to a pediatric dietitian for weight management for your child. Weight management in pediatrics often refers to weight stabilization, slowing of weight trajectory, or even weight loss. In those instances, I work closely with the referring provider and care team, as well as you and your child/teen (depending on the age), to work toward supporting positive health outcomes for your child.

As a dietitian who works with eating disorders, I keep harm reduction at the forefront of my care, with emphasis placed on behaviors that support both physical and emotional well-being rather than weight. Oftentimes, work is done “behind the scenes” with parents. This entails exploration and shifts in the feeding dynamics in the home, positive changes to the household food environment, sleep schedule, screen time use, emotional support, and promotion of joyful movement. When more direct involvement is beneficial, I invite children to join sessions or schedule child-focused visits, always in a supportive, positive, and age-appropriate manner.
